My name is Ethan Roda, I am a Junior at Molloy University working on a New Media Major, with a minor in Italian. I like to include some of my hobbies while creating content, for me it makes the content more personal and it becomes fun to create. I have a Youtube channel called ‘Seeing is Believing’ where I’ve created a few fishing videos. I would like to become more creative with video content that I produce… but for now sticking with my hobbies has been beneficial. I am proficient in Premiere Pro, and I am learning the ins and outs of different adobe platforms.

REFERENCE

In class we started looking over website templates and different styles to figure out what our website could potentially look like. At first the coding templates looked completely foreign to me and it was really hard to figure out what each line meant. Now after looking at code for some time, I can read each line one by one and try to figure out how it’s displayed. Matt created individual website domain names on reclaim hosting where we placed a coding template to start working with. The template was already filled with information that showed a ‘Cafe’ website. At first it was really hard for me to figure out how to substitute coding information to make it my own media and information. Once I started getting the hang of it I started deleting portions of the template and also adding my own content to make the website my own. While we were introduced to reclaim hosting and our own websites, we were also working on editing things in Lightroom and Photoshop. This was the first time I’ve worked in Lightroom. In Lightroom it seemed very easy to distort and change your image to pretty much any setting. I remember thinking that it’s very easy to give the picture a completely different or opposite look from the original photo. There were also a few tricks we learned for editing specific parts of the picture, possibly for adjusting light to make the photo more defined or undefined. I also enjoyed the tutorials we did in Photoshop. I have a little experience with Photoshop but I definitely needed a refresher. I think it’s really important to edit and crop your pictures, before you publish them on a website for example. Photoshop makes it really easy to crop and distort your photos to get the “look” you are looking for. My most valuable skill I can take away from this course is our time making videos, and editing with Premiere Pro. I believe the videos I made in this class were edited well and each time I work with Premiere I gain more knowledge and practice with the program. Another skill I gained from this course is a basic understanding of html and css. Which before this course I had no prior knowledge of. I am excited to keep working on my skills next semester and learning more techniques with video editing and coding.
